Movie Review: Wall Street - Money Never Sleeps

Wall Street – Money never sleeps is the sequel to the 1987 movie “wall street” all directed by Oliver Stone. Oliver Stone is a legendary and controversial figure in the Hollywood movie industry and brings to light many of the significant issues affecting the daily modern life such as the Recession. Which brings us to this movie,  Money Never Sleeps played by Michael Douglas, who plays the role as the Infamous Wall Street investor “Gordon Gekko” recently released out of a jail after serving 8 years time, for security fraud, money laundering, and racketeering. Gordan Gekko is the father of “Winnie”(Carey Mulligan). She chooses to keep away from him, and refrain from speaking to him, even after he was released from prison. This now brings us to the character of “Jacob Jake Moore” played by Shia LaBeouf. Jacob is an ambitious young investment banker who is in the process of marrying Winnie. As well as repairing the lost connection between her and her father behind Winnies back, “Jacob accomplishes this by forming an alliance with Winnie’s father. An alliance he formed while attending Gordon’s lecture that he had conducted in order to promote his new book “Is Greed Good”.  Gordon teaches young Jacob the truths and tricks behind the famous Wall Street. Gekko reveals compelling theories regarding the likely reasons for “Lewis Zabel’s downfall, which was Jacob’s former employer. Lewis Zabel was a former businessman, who had his company fallen apart 8 years ago. In Gordon Gekko’s words, Greed is now sanctioned by the government, and the American economy is on the edge of collapsing as a direct result of an enormous debt and reckless government spending. Later as Jake begins his plotting to avenge his mentor, Gekko begins to reveal his true colors.

This movie is a cleverly executed film, directed and produced by Oliver Stone. It lures many critics and provokes the mind to reflect, upon the modern lifestyle that we indulge in on a daily basis. It brings up the significant dilemmas that we are facing currently which is the Recession, and economical distress and competition among many companies. This movie is rated PG-13 and is guaranteed to keep a viewer on the edge of seat the entire time. We give this movie 8 out of 10, and would urge any viewer interested in the economy and suspense to view this spectacular film.
